About the Viva-Lite® Family

We're honoured that you're interested to know more about the background which lead to the development of the Viva-Lite® Full Spectrum Lighting products, its company formation and the history of its distribution partners.

The history of Viva-Lite® goes way back to 1978 when Tobias Rückert, founder of the Viva-Lite® business spoke his first words which according to his parents were not "mum", "dad", but instead simply ''light''.

However it was only twenty-one years later in 1999 when he - inspired by reading Dr. Jacob Liberman's book "Light - Medicine of the Future" - decided to open his first company related to light in Germany, named Light-Office® .

Light-Office® was specialized in Full Spectrum Lighting Solutions from day one and has initially held exclusive dealerships for True-Light® from Auralight (which at the time included the famous PowerTwist® tubes from Duro-Test ) as well as non-exclusive distributorships such as Biolight® , LifeLite® , SoLux® and others, thus gaining a good overview of the market.

In 2002, Light-Office® finally decided to produce its own range of Full Spectrum Lights due to a number of reasons such as for example:

• there were no E14 Energy Saving Full Spectrum Lamps available at the time
• brand names for lamp types (halogen, energy saving, tubes, incandescent etc.) differed and caused confusion amongst consumers
• some brands offering high colour temperatures looked like "full spectrum" on the outside, but when analyzing them carefully, turned out to be normal tri phosphor (and not as advertised fullspectrum) lamps.

However there was an even more profound reason for starting the brand VIVA-LITE® :

We did not believe that the best possible lamp (light spectrum and usability wise) had yet been invented - and that's even though we're all spending so much time under artificial lighting in our everyday lives. This belief all Viva-Lite® partners share to this very day, which is why we strive to continually improve our product range for the betterment of its users while carefully listening to them for their suggestions (click here to leave a suggestion right now...).

What lead to the expansion from Light-Office® to Viva-Lite® International Ltd.:

...In 2003, Viva-Lite® became well known in Germany as a number of mail order businesses decided to include Viva-Lite® in their catalogues. This was a huge and at the time surprising success for those companies as Full Spectrum Light was a completely new area for them and their clients.

...In 2004, Viva-Lite® expanded internationally with its first major distributor being AD-Lux in Finland. After working very closely with AD-Lux on improving and widening the product range, in the following years Viva-Lite® eventually became available in other markets and produced one of the finest lighting products available in the world today.

...In 2008, Viva-Lite® announced its first international convention about Full Spectrum Lighting in Copenhagen, Denmark where distributors from all over Europe participated, issuing a statement of joint effort and vision to take Viva-Lite® to the world as one of the best possible lighting solutions for homes and offices alike:

"To continuously create the best possible full spectrum lighting range"

"To give good health and happiness by offering an excellent and affordable product"

"To develop and grow a consciousness about light in people and society"

"To protect the environment by creating energy efficient systems,
participating in recycling and supporting regeneration and sustainability"

"To support research in the field of light and health"

...in 2009, Viva-Lite® International Limited wasnominated as a Finalist in the Vero Excellence in Business Support Awards and opened its global online store in many different languages, currencies and locations.

Every partner we work with agrees to adhere to safe working conditions and to use environmentally responsible manufacturing processes. To enforce compliance, we conduct extensive onsite audits led by independent associates in conjunction with third-party experts. After the audits, we closely monitor the suppliers’ cooperation and response.
